Blackburn with Darwen are set to write off over two hundred and sixty thousand pounds in bad debts from utility companies.

It follows a judicial review that says local authorities can't charge them for their admin errors.

Councils are entitled to fine utility companies if they overrun on jobs such as those that result in road closures .

But now they've been told to write off those debts after the legal ruling in two thousand and three.

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council say this won't affect services.>
