A man form Manchester has been sentenced to nine and half years in prison for the 2 armed robberies in the Ribble Valley.

21 year old Michael Lee Parr was part of a gang who smashed thier way into the Marden's Jewellers in Clitheroe in December 2008 making off with seventy thousand pounds of jewellery.

A month later he was part a gang that raided the Halifax bank in Longridge stealing six thousand pounds.

33 year David Holyoak of no fixed abode also pleaded guilty to robbery in connection with the incident at the Halifax and was sentenced to three and a half years.

Speaking after sentencing, officer in the case, DI Steve Dowson said: “This was a long and complicated investigation involving a number of Detectives from the local CID teams.

“Clearly this was a terrifying ordeal for the victims which will stay with them for a very long time.

“This case should demonstrate to the people of Lancashire that we will fully investigate any offences of this nature and will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to catch the people responsible. My message to criminals who come into Lancashire to commit this type of crime is that you will be arrested, convicted and sent to prison.”
